The Sr. Network Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
Collaborate with CIO and Director of Technology to assess near and long-term network capacity and security needs
Create and maintain network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records
Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for security and network administration, usage, and disaster recovery
Design and deploy LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, security solutions, including servers, routers, switches, wireless access points, wireless LAN controllers, VPN routers, firewalls, UPSs, and other associated hardware
Conduct research on network and security products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the security and networking industry
Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services
Monitor security and network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
Perform security audits, security and network system backups and recovery
Perform windows domain administration as needed as related to network DNS, DHCP, Active Directory sites and services
Undertake other duties as requested by the firm’s Director of Technology.
Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) from four-year College or university; or five to seven years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Must possess three or more years of experience designing and maintaining enterprise level routing, switching and security infrastructure
Must possess three or more years of experience with network capacity planning, network and security principles, and general network management best practices
Strong understanding of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technologies is required
Strong understanding of project management methodologies; Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required; Experience planning and managing office construction projects a plus
Strong written and oral communications skills, and must be able to convey technical ideas in a manner that is convincing to others
Strong interpersonal skills that allow the ability to work with a variety of attorneys and administrative staff, and the professional presence and demeanor to represent the firm in its Facilities functions to the attorneys, staff and administrative departments
Team player and possess the ability to partner effectively with other administrative areas in order to accomplish the firm’s goals
Strong work ethic and flexibility to meet the demands of the position; this includes working with attorneys and staff in the firm’s various offices during the day, evening and weekend shifts, including overnight travel to remote offices. This job requires the successful candidate to be available to meet crises on a 24/7 basis, and to be accessible even when attending seminars.
