Summary of Position:
O-D Comply is a subscription-based set of materials that provide firm clients with up-to-date 50-state surveys, and related templates and forms, on key labor and employment topics. The O-D Comply Counsel is responsible for (1) ensuring those surveys and materials remain continually up-to-date, accurate, and legally sufficient, and (2) drafting client updates and materials related to the O-D Comply materials. The O-D Comply Counsel will be part of the Knowledge Management (KM) department, reporting directly to the Sr. KM Counsel & Research Manager, with functional reporting to the firm shareholders ultimately responsible for the O-D Comply materials. This position can sit in any of our offices nationwide.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Create and Maintain accurate and up-to-date 50-state surveys (including key local and county laws) on various labor and employment topics covered by O-D Comply.
Develop 50-state compliant forms and materials on various labor and employment topics covered by O-D Comply.
Help in the development and maintenance of FMLA Edge, a related subscription-based firm product.
Keep abreast of legal developments affecting the firm’s practice areas.
Draft blog posts and other public-facing articles on O-D Comply-related topics.
Respond to inquiries with professionalism, confidence, analysis, and tact commensurate with that of a senior associate, of counsel, or shareholder attorney.
Other duties as assigned.
Expertise in labor and employment law as litigator, counselor, and researcher.
6+ years of experience practicing law in a labor and employment firm or the labor and employment department of general practice firm.
Proficient with all Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint, Lexis-Nexis and WestLaw, expense and billing systems.
Exceptional legal research skills.
Requires active membership as an attorney qualified to practice law.
Requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the Firm and to the public.
Excellent communication skills, writes clearly and informatively. Edits work for errors. Able to read and interpret information accurately and concisely. Presents information verbally to firm personnel.
Superior Interpersonal Skills – Must be personable, yet project confidence and credibility to the firm’s attorneys. Must be able to collaborate with other team members to advance the firm’s goals.
Exhibits superior problem Solving Skills – Gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
Organization Skills - Maintain files that are neat and easily retrieved. Ability to organize, manage, prioritize, and handle numerous projects/tasks, often simultaneously. Detail-oriented.
Teamwork – Willing and eager to help others and to share knowledge and skills.
Dependability – Follows instructions and responds to management direction. Willing to commit to additional hours when necessary to reach Firm objectives.
Demonstrates Initiative – Takes independent actions and reasonable risks. Suggests novel additional means to further KM goals. Asks for and offers help when needed.
