Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP seeks a Director of Client Service for its California offices (located in Los Angeles, Orange County and Silicon Valley) to provide business-development guidance and support to the lawyers in these offices as they improve client service, expand existing-client accounts, acquire new clients, and drive profitable revenue. The Director of Client Service will be responsible for developing a viable business development plan with/for each lawyer. Additionally, he or she must cultivate an in-depth understanding of the geographic, industry-sector and practice-area marketplaces of the lawyers in California and elsewhere in the firm.
This position will have primary client development responsibility for preparing responses to RFPs and pitches, selecting high-priority targets, and strategizing with lawyers on how to initiate new relationships and advance and expand existing ones. Ideal candidates will be able to identify which organizations to join, participate in and sponsor, as well as prepare and lead lawyers in efforts to establish leadership positions and leverage them for the growth of the firm. The Director of Client Service will be “present” in the business community and will be expected to personally initiate and develop new relationships with prospective clients and referral sources. Thus, a robust, current network with C-level executives is highly desired to obtain market intelligence, identify opportunities and pursue professional relationships.
Duties include: 1) tracking lawyers’ efforts in Womble Bond Dickinson’s CRM program in order to ensure the effective and efficient dispatch of the service and sales pipeline; 2) gaining in-depth knowledge of, and applying, all of the firm’s Client Development (and other) tools, technologies, resources and professionals; and 3) becoming the primary Client Development professional in implementing the firm’s “Lateral Integration Action Plan” in Womble Bond Dickinson’s California offices.

Even more effectively provide superlative client service
Identify ways to expand business and improve relationships with buyers at existing clients
Initiate, advance, and win engagements with prospective clients
In addition, the Director of Client Service will deliver training for lawyers in the following areas of skills development:
Building the Womble Bond Dickinson brand in the California market
Building and enhancing personal branding and thought-leadership efforts, including bios, social media efforts, blogs, presentations, articles, etc.
Spearheading the client development activities of the firm’s Technology Sector
Industry business skills and knowledge
Legal management skills
General client development skills
Superior service skills
Skills and Requirements:
Successful candidates will have at least ten (10) years of consulting, training and/or coaching experience in sophisticated professional services delivery, sales and client service. This position will require a strong professional with executive presence. The successful candidate will possess a demonstrated knowledge of the sales process, as well as CRM and pipeline management. A bachelor's degree in a related field is required. A graduate degree would be preferred.
Strong, clear and creative writing capabilities and an exceptional communication skill set are mandatory. Additional important qualities include: high energy, positive outlook, enthusiasm, and ability to operate effectively in an environment of matrix management; superlative business and digital analytic skills; ability to utilize leading-edge marketing technology, including social media; and collaboration/teaming skills, with lawyers and with other professionals across departments and offices.
