Oculus seeks an Associate General Counsel for its AR/VR Research Group, where leading scientists and engineers are pushing the boundaries of augmented and virtual reality. This position entails providing legal advice related to AR and VR core technology development and negotiating complex technology transactions. Success in this position will require analyzing complex and global legal issues related to innovative and multifaceted products. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge issues in the fields of augmented reality and virtual reality.
Counsel AR/VR research teams on a variety of legal matters related to the design and development of software products and services, ranging from IP, to security and privacy
Oversee and negotiate complex tech transactions, including IP licensing, partnership agreements and other commercial agreements related to AR/VR software systems and services
Influence and build relationships with executives, product teams and peers across Oculus and Facebook
Collaborate with subject matter experts at Oculus and Facebook to analyze and communicate legal risks
J.D. degree with membership in at least 1 state bar
8+ years legal experience with law firms and/or in-house experience with technology companies
Software product counseling and negotiating experience
Experience in IP and technology licensing, including open source
Experience with emerging software products
Experience with complex software systems and licensing models
Experience building influence with tech entrepreneur executives and advising various stakeholders teams on complex legal issues
