Inside Facebook, the AR/VR org is working on defining the next generation of computing platforms. Our teams in Oculus, Building 8, Social VR, Camera and Facebook Reality Labs are creating hardware and software at the core of visual computing. These new technologies, experiences and platforms are presenting new legal and policy questions relating to user health & safety. Facebook seeks an experienced, highly motivated attorney to serve as Director and Associate General Counsel on the AR/VR Legal team. In this role you'll drive the company's legal approach to user safety across the suite of consumer products and services that we're building in AR/VR.
You'll work closely with business leads in related functions at Facebook, including researchers, perceptual scientists, product managers, engineers, designers, and policy teams. You'll also serve as a subject matter expert on user safety, and work with our teams to evaluate and respond to legislative and regulatory developments around AR and VR health and safety.
The ideal candidate for this role is able to work proactively, collaboratively, and is able to switch easily between detailed work and high-level strategic thinking.

Drive legal strategy for user safety for AR/VR products and features
Build and manage a team of experienced attorneys and legal professionals
Work cross-functionally with Facebook legal teams
Oversee outside counsel relationships
Provide legal support to teams developing innovative solutions to safety issues in new technologies and contexts
Partner with policy team to drive safety improvements across the AR/VR industry
Help ensure our AR/VR products lead the industry in user safety
J.D. with membership in at least one state bar
12+ years of legal experience, from a law firm or in-house
Experience working with and leading cross-functional teams including policy
Experience working on international consumer product safety matters
Team player who enjoys building relationships and working with others
