ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• IT governance and management
  • Build effective working relationships with Firm leaders, Firm attorneys and Practice Groups, leaders of business services departments, clients and vendors to understand business priorities and the carious ways that IT enables solutions to business and practice needs
  • Participate in the Firm’s business planning processes to understand the Firm’s vision, goals and initiatives
  • Align IT initiatives with the Firm’s business plans and priorities
  • Ensure that all IT initiatives have clear business goals and success measures
  • Manage the project selection and approval process in conjunction with the firm’s Technology Committee and business leadership
  • Prepare an annual IT plan and budget that is integrated into the firm’s budgeting process
  • Communicate the IT plan throughout the Firm to build acceptance for planned changes and to promote understanding for selected priorities
  • Monitor  and report on performance of the IT department including project implementation and budget performance
  • Manage relationships between the IT department and external entities including clients, vendors, consultants and external entities
• Development
  • Prepare a strategy, plans and standards for the firm’s technical infrastructure, information architecture  and applications portfolio (implement the plans and standards)
  • Assess and refine efforts to provide attorneys with effective tools for client service including editing tools, matter management, litigation support, client collaboration, research and records retention
  • Develop and evolve the IT department reporting structure and service delivery approach, and establish processes and metrics to track performance
  • Establish and maintain a service orientation that drives quality-of-service thinking throughout development and operations
  • Establish Service Level Agreements for performance, reliability and availability
  • Develop, maintain and test Disaster Recovery scenarios against a business continuity plan testing the Firm’s readiness to support services during a major outage
    • This will also require establishing and communicating Business Recovery Time Objectives and Recovery Point Objectives in line with Disaster Preparedness planning
  • Operations and Technical Support
    • Have an in-depth understanding of the Firm’s systems architecture, technical infrastructure and support systems and regularly assess the department’s status in achieving its design and operational goals
    • Manage continuous delivery of services and direct support to end users through oversight of service-level agreements and monitoring of system performance
    • Ensure that systems operate in conformance with internal standards and external client and legal requirements
    • Maintain and govern solid Asset Tracking across all Firm IT assets
    • Ensure the protection of all IT assets and the integrity, security and privacy of information developed internally or entrusted to and maintained by the Firm
    • Have recovery capabilities in place with Historical Tracking maintained to support the Firm’s business disaster recovery plan
    • Oversee the negotiation of all IT contracts
    • Complete annual reviews and professional development plans for all IT personnel
  • Special Projects as assigned
    • Work with clients of the Firm who have specific technology needs to provide workable solutions
    • Respond to client security audits
    • Perform other duties assigned by Firm management
