What are the responsibilities of a Managing Attorney at Jackson & MacNichol?
day-to-day operations of the firm
productivity and profitability of the firm, including work product and production and revenue goals
recruitment and hiring of attorneys and paralegals
supervision of employee attorneys in their day-to-day practice
HR-related matters involving employee attorneys
Firm use and acquisition of technology, with the aim of maximizing efficiency and productivity in the delivery of professional services while maintaining a high level of quality in service to clients and ethical practice
management of firm facilities
Oversight of firm marketing, public relations, and client development
Regular meetings, as needed, with Firm Principal Attorneys and Firm Administrator.
Monitoring and regular reporting to Principal Attorneys on Firm revenue goals and overall profitability
employee compliance with Firm policies and procedures
What does it take to be a Managing Attorney at Jackson & MacNichol?
JD from an ABA-accredited law school
Licensed and in good standing with the Maine Bar (candidates who are licensed in other states and in good standing who are eligible for admission based on reciprocity will be considered)
Demonstrated experience in law firm management
Solid grasp of the Maine Rules of Professional Conduct and other applicable rules of professional conduct and ethics as applied in a private practice law firm setting
Compassion for and desire to help others
Team-oriented with a positive attitude
Excellent work ethic, self-motivated and driven
5+ years of experience practicing law (veterans’ benefits and/or social security disability law preferred but not required)
Prior experience supervising multiple attorneys
