As a Starbucks corporate counsel – Technology, you will draft and negotiate commercial agreements related to technology licensing and services and will collaborate with clients to advise them on related issues. Successful candidates will bring to the role a clear understanding of the legal issues associated with software and application development, software licensing, cloud-based services, wi-fi access, mobile applications and functionality, and data analytics. Experience in SaaS agreements is a plus. This role will also benefit from a general understanding of global privacy and security legal regimes applicable to data collection, analysis, enhancement, and use.
As Starbucks corporate counsel – Real Estate, you will provide legal support for the U.S. store development team, which oversees the site selection, leasing, and development of Starbucks stores. In this role, you will be responsible for drafting leases and other related documents, participating in contract negotiations, and providing other legal support necessary for the development, construction, and maintenance of retail stores over their entire lifecycle. You will work as part of a team of legal professionals and serve as a key legal and strategic counselor to this critical Starbucks business unit, participate on cross-functional teams, as appropriate, and will deliver timely, creative, and practical legal advice in a fast-paced business environment.
As corporate counsel – Global Supply Chain, Innovation, Commercial, you will work closely with business leads in Starbucks global supply chain, innovation and research & development groups, as well as other support functions, to help achieve business results. Your work will include drafting, reviewing, and supporting the negotiation of contracts using your legal expertise on commercial matters, including the purchase and sale of goods and services, construction and design build projects, capital equipment purchases and installation, licensing of intellectual property, development of commercial products, and product distribution and transportation. You will provide advice and training on negotiating contract terms and the resolution of contract issues, as well as on intellectual property, antitrust, and other legal topics, to help achieve business goals while proactively managing and mitigating business risk.
Leveraging your previous experience, we will enable you to:
Guide– Provide strategic legal counseling to leaders in the respective business unit, as well as the adjacent businesses and functions that collaborate with and are supported by it.
Collaborate– Team with other Law & Corporate Affairs partners to provide cross-functional support, including on matters of licensing, intellectual property, product development, and litigation.
Support– Play a key role for the Law & Corporate Affairs team that provides legal support to key business units, including partnering with paralegals and other department staff members.
We’d love to hear from people with:
3-5 years of relevant substantive legal experience in a law firm or company legal department within Technology, Real Estate, & Supply Chain
Demonstrated legal and business judgment, technical acumen and strategic thinking, along with experience working independently and cross-functionally.
D. from accredited law school
License to practice law in pertinent jurisdictions
