Overview and Responsibilities:

The Senior Counsel will be part of our Multiplatform Production Group (MPG) which is a nimble team focused on in-house physical production and production management executing on the company’s #1 goal and core business, creating content. Primarily supporting the brand creative, marketing and various groups across the Paramount Global portfolio, MPG produces all types of content including promos, image campaigns, still photography (key art, gallery, press), integrated marketing spots, BTS, unit photography, shoulder programming, show opens, corporate sizzle reels, and consumer product advertisements as well as creative elements requiring production management expertise.

The Senior Counsel will have working knowledge of, and interest in, producing promo and short-form content and addressing related business issues of content production; be a self-starter, motivated, quick thinking, flexible and thorough. This is a demanding and fast paced environment requiring proactive and can-do thinking, assessing risk and exercising good judgment. This role also requires the ability to demonstrate initiative and be a team player.

• Drafting and negotiating development, production and related vendor agreements (e.g. production, equipment, stage rentals, location releases, talent agreements)
• Structuring, drafting, and negotiating agreements for animated and live action short series
• Reviewing and approving legal contracts for execution by management and advising production management on contract administration and compliance
• Supervising and developing lawyers, contract managers, and staff supporting MPG
• Shaping mid to long-term departmental strategy and goals for short form production across Paramount Global channel groups with SVP, Business and Legal Affairs
• Managing inflow of deal requests to ensure client timelines are being met as well as prioritizing a number of productions against competing deadlines

Basic Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of equivalent legal experience in production and content at a major law firm or motion picture studio.
• JD from an accredited law school and strong academic credentials 
• Member in good standing of the New York and/or California Bar(s) or eligible for Registered In-House Counsel designation.

Additional Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of, and interest in, producing promo and short-form content and addressing related business issues of content production

• Ability to apply appropriate analysis of risk depending on the scale and scope of the productions
• Attention to detail and strong drafting, negotiation, written and verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.
