Examples of Work
In this role, you will advise and conduct legal research about issues of contract law, government procurement, federal grant administration, and related areas of law;
Consult with DHHS staff regarding the obligations and terms of agency agreements;
Negotiate terms with contractors/grantees
Provide legal advice to the Contract Administrator and his staff regarding on-going issues of contract administration
Review and draft revisions of DHHS agreement templates and processes
Provide other general legal support for a variety of other activities, such as requests for proposals, procurement-related public records requests, or litigation.

Three years of experience as an attorney practicing law and providing legal services such as preparing and trying cases, advising clients, and/or interpreting laws or administrative policies.
In accordance with Section 7-101, Nebraska Revised, Reissued Statutes of l943, incumbents in this class must be admitted to the Nebraska Bar.
PREFERRED: Experience with contract law; federal, block, or state grants; public contracting; software licensing agreements; Medicaid programs; and/or public health.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to: interpret and apply statutes, case law, decisions of court/administrative hearings, and administrative rules and policies on a variety of legal issues; effectively communicate and interact with legal associates, other government employees, and the public;
Conduct legal research; formulate legal opinions and recommendations based on legal research; identify critical elements of legal questions or issues; and use a computer for word processing and research.
