The Legal Specialist is responsible for initiating and producing complex work at a high level of competence in one or more areas of law in support of attorneys and/or clients. Work product is self-directed and requiressignificant independent judgmentand discretion. Advanced knowledge and understanding of practice areas, processes, procedures, rules and regulations is required. The Legal Specialist provides leadership and is considered an expert in one or more areas of law; performs legal research, educates and updates clients/departments on specific legal topics; and may take the lead on significant projects. The specific duties of the Legal Specialist may vary based on department needs. The Legal Specialist in this position will have a primary focus on general health law, management of adverse patient event investigations, privacy regulatory compliance, and data privacy and information security matters. Health law experience is strongly preferred.
This position is telework and may require intermittent time at one of our Mayo Clinic sites in AZ, FL, Rochester, MN or Eau Claire WI. Individual must live within driving distance to one of the Mayo Clinic sites.
